This started with a conviction, not a business plan.
Meet Nick Smith — founder of Throughline Creative

I've sat in a lot of churches that are doing extraordinary things and struggling to help anyone on the outside see it.
The worship is alive. The community is real. People's lives are genuinely changing. And then you look at the website, or the Sunday bulletin, or the Instagram and it tells a completely different story. One that feels dated, inconsistent, and like nobody's really in charge of it.
That gap used to bother me. Now it drives me.
I spent years working in and around churches, in creative roles, in communications, in ministry. I watched talented volunteers burn out trying to hold together a brand strategy nobody had ever actually built. I watched pastors pour their whole lives into what God was doing inside their walls, with no tools to communicate it clearly to the world outside.
I started Throughline to close that gap.
Not because I wanted to build a consulting firm. Because I genuinely believe the local church is the most important institution in the world — and it deserves to communicate like it.
Throughline Creative is my answer to a problem I couldn't stop thinking about. If your church is building something real, it should be able to tell that story clearly. Visitors should be able to find you. Members should be able to invite others. Your creative team should have a framework that makes their work matter.
That's what I do. And I don't take it lightly.
THIS IS MINISTRY WORK,
NOT MARKETING WORK.
I want to be honest about something: I didn't start Throughline to make money. I started it because I felt a genuine calling to use what I've been given — creativity, strategy, an understanding of church culture — to serve the Church.
Every engagement begins with prayer. Every decision is filtered through the question: what actually serves this church's mission? Not what looks impressive, not what wins awards, not what I think is creative. What helps this church tell the story of what God is doing. If that sounds like the kind of partnership you're looking for, I'd love to talk.

Excellence as Faithfulness
Mediocre creative work isn't humble — it's wasteful. The standard for everything Throughline produces is: is this as good as what God is doing inside this church? If the answer is no, we keep working.
Relational Over Transactional
I don't take on clients I can't give real attention to. The churches I work with get a partner, not a vendor. That means I know your season, your leadership, and your language — not just your logo.
Equip, Don't Just Execute
My goal is to give your team the tools, language, and direction to do great work — not to create a dependency on Throughline. Every engagement ends with your church more capable than when we started.
Clarity Before Creativity
Before we design anything or write any copy, we get aligned on what your church is actually trying to say. Most brand problems are clarity problems wearing design clothes.
